FrieslandCampina wants to build new factory

11 March 2019 - Wouter Baan - 7 comments

FrieslandCampina plans to build a new production location, where milk flows from the member dairy farms are processed.

The plans are part of the new strategy, which should make the group more flexible. FrieslandCampina says that the new location is intended to process members' milk into, among other things, fresh dairy products and cheese.

With this, the cooperative wants to anticipate the expected growth in sales of dairy products, including milk produced under the PlanetProof label, among other things. With the new factory, the group wants to respond to the growing need for new milk flows with specific characteristics. This is part of the new strategy which was published in 2018.

Location unknown
FrieslandCampina is focusing on a new location instead of taking over a factory, because this is more convenient from a practical point of view. It does not yet say where the production location should be.

The location of a new factory is, however, crucial; the distance to the factory is a selection criteria for member dairy farmers to participate Top Dairy Line for PlanetProof milk. The company currently has 17 production locations, which means that 1 new factory will probably be added.

Not a Top dairy line, but Top civil servants who have completely lost their way. Completely in line with building hospitals and closing again, building prisons and closing again..... It is a trend....
Now just go with the farming money, earn money!!!!
How many factories has FC closed in the last year???
How many are still closing? All money from someone else, it's easy...

Bearing in mind the emerging reduction of the dairy herd and the area of (peat) grassland.
There is already so much production capacity, so what a capital destruction of our membership money.

It is so very difficult to meet the top dairy line conditions!! The weather factor even plays a role. Last year the results of the KLW were particularly bad due to the weather (drought), but you will be judged on the selection. Bizarre!

this is panic football on membership fees the problem is minor in the next few years many farmers will stop who have their cattle outside these are cattle farmers who live in Brabant and still have asbestos on their roof they have simply been declared bankrupt by their own province that want to get the gratings out now the % of grazing people is going down and our farmer managers are so bad that they don't dare to send the top of fc home but it keeps the top in honor with compulsive rules and wasting money I wish everyone the best but start working with the top of fc 1 hour more a day that knife cuts from several sides and can achieve a very high environmental target. but yes those drivers are there because of poverty and have to talk to the top so that the top can go on holiday by plane and the farmer works for that pollution of the top of fc

If the planet proof milk flow is indeed a success, the milk that is processed there will be at the expense of the milk that is processed in the regular channel. I think it makes sense to allocate one of the existing factories that is conveniently located in the supply area for milk processing in that segment.
In addition, the milk flow is unlikely to increase in the coming years. Someone else already mentioned the ongoing criticism of the livestock farming environmental footprint, and discussion about water level in the peat meadow areas!! Moreover, quite a few members have left for other factories! Just replace and redesign existing factories seems more sensible to me!
