The Scandinavian dairy cooperative pays the same milk price throughout Europe, so that currency fluctuations are spread across the various countries. This causes the fat price to drop by €0,01 to €3,97 per kilo. The protein price remains the same at €4,37 per kilo.

With the standard contents (4,41% fat and 3,47% protein) and an annual supply of 800.000 kilos of milk, the above results in a milk price from €34,54 per 100 kilos. This is €0,04 lower than in March.

Stable dairy market
Johnnie Russel, director at Arla, reports that the stable milk price is in line with movements on the dairy market. He notes that fat prices have fallen somewhat in recent weeks, but at the same time he talks about better valorization of milk protein.

Milk supply in the main producing countries in Europe is mainly stable, or above. The Dutch milk supply is well below last year's level, but Arla is a relatively small player in the Netherlands.
