Milk giant Russia has doubled production

10 April 2019 - Tim Roetman - 5 comments

EkoNiva Group, Russia's largest dairy farm, has doubled milk production in just 15 months. At the beginning of April, more than 2.000 tons of milk were produced in 1 day for the first time.

To be able to produce this amount every day, more than 75.000 cows are milked on the dairy farm of EkoNiva† In total there are 133.000 animals on the farm, which means that the livestock here has increased by 42% compared to December 31, 2017.

In addition, EkoNiva Group also has access to approximately 535.000 hectares of land. However, the company does not own the land. EkoNiva Group owns 'only' 194.000 hectares of this.

Expand further
However, the expansion plans are still not complete. There is also a cheese factory under construction. With this, EkoNiva wants to avoid volatile milk prices and add a special value to the milk.

EkoNiva has already announced that it wants to eventually grow to a daily milk production of 3.000 tons. To achieve that goal, the dairy farm must grow to at least 100.000 dairy cows. The facilities for this expansion are still under construction, but are likely to be commissioned in 2019.

Invest in factory
That EkoNiva wants to increase the margins on its milk is also apparent from the investment it has made in a large dairy factory. Ultimately, 1.000 tons of milk must be processed in that factory every day. The planned delivery of the factory is in 2020.

Since the boycott of Russia for the annexation of Crimea and other disagreements with Russia, whether justified or not, the country is already almost self-sufficient in pork and dairy and in a few years an exporter you will see that.
Ton Westgeest 10 April 2019
All because of those worthless administrators of Europe, who were challenging the Russians with Ukraine. Putin had said it in advance.......don't touch Ukraine!
I can still see them standing on the Euromaidan square, Van Balen and colleagues with their big mouths calling on the people to revolt.
What have the assholes accomplished?
They will soon become our major competitors in agricultural exports, and then you don't have to talk about gas, on which we become completely dependent....

Ton Westgeest 100% right, everything those so-called directors do and arrange goes wrong, but they don't understand that as long as their wages are right. you become discouraged.

Our farmers are stuck in every way with high costs and increasingly lower incomes. In addition, scaling up is counteracted.
Bert 12 April 2019
And we are happy to help from the Netherlands with these scale developments by exporting our breeding stock and even selling them below cost price !!!
