After 3 stable changes in a row, DOC Kaas has lowered the milk price for May.
For an annual supply of 800.000 kilos of milk, the advance price drops by €0,47 to €32,54 per 100 kilos. With an annual supply of 1,1 million kilos or more, the basic milk price is €32,82 per 100 kilos. In addition to the milk price, premiums can be earned for grazing (€1,75), sustainability (€0,50) and VLOG (€1) per 100 kilos. As a result, in practice, payment prices can still exceed €35 per 100 kilos.
Lower cheese prices in March
The price reduction is a result of cheese prices, which lost ground in March and April. Meanwhile, the upward trend at the cheese market deployed again. Milk prices normally react with a delay of approximately 3 months to developments on the dairy market and that explains the lower milk price.
The FrieslandCampina cooperative has also reduced the milk price for the month of May. The Scandinavian dairy group Arla kept the milk price stable.
