In May, A-ware took a big bite out of the current milk price that they pay to the affected dairy farmers. The dairy group has kept the fat value the same, but lowered the protein price.
The protein price in May amounts to €4,632 per kilo, which is 8,5% lower than the €5,064 per kilo that the cheese company paid in April. The fat price retained its value at €3,587 per kilo. From the milk price comparison of Boerenbusiness This results in a milk price of €31,31 per 100 kilos for A-ware (with 4,41% fat, 3,47% protein and an annual supply of 800.000 kilos).
Different profile
A-ware therefore reduces the protein value much further than, for example, FrieslandCampina, which reduced the protein price by 2% to €5,754 per kilo in May. The difference between FrieslandCampina and A-ware is clearly visible in the determination of the value of fat and protein. At €2,877 per kilo, FrieslandCampina's fat price is much lower than that of A-ware, which specializes in cheese.
DOC Kaas and Arla Foods have only adjusted the protein price downwards very slightly for May.
