While the price of straw (both wheat and barley straw) was still €23 per tonne last year in week 160, this week the price is once again €132,50 per tonne free at the farm. This means that the straw price remains unchanged sixth week stable in a row. We now have to wait until the new harvest will be traded, as can be seen in the graph below. Then in week 28 they switched to the new straw, after which the price showed a sharp dip.

Supply and demand in balance
According to various forage traders, supply and demand are reasonably in balance, which means, for example, that the price for silage is also stable at €50 per tonne, delivered to the farm. The price for perennial ryegrass also remains stable at €150 per tonne, delivered to the farm. There was slightly more demand for silage maize last week, but this had no consequences for the price. This remains at €67 per tonne, free of charge.

In addition, the price of meadow hay remains stable this week at €210 per tonne free at the farm. According to the forage traders, people say here and there that meadow hay is almost gone. Others no longer even sell domestic products, but source them from abroad. For example, meadow hay from Germany is sold for €230 per tonne, free of charge.

According to traders, it is almost there no trade more in red fescue, tall fescue and meadow meadow. The prices for these products therefore remain at €180, €170 and €155 per tonne, free of charge, respectively. This level has also been in use for a few weeks now.

Price change for spent grain
The price of spent grains came under more pressure last week, causing the price to drop by €0,10 to €2,15 per percent dry matter. On the other hand, this is still higher than was paid in June last year, when the price was €1,90 per percent dry matter. When we look at the graph, we see that the price also showed a decline during this period last year.
