Arla has developed a tool with which it can better predict milk supply. The Scandinavian cooperative says that this will enable them to better respond to the changing market conditions.
Arla has approximately 10.300 dairy farmers, spread over various European countries, who together milk 1,5 million cows. The annual milk collection amounts to about 13 billion kilos. Arla tries to predict the trend in milk supply better with a new tool, which is based on artificial intelligence.
Switching between milk flows
As a result, Arla believes that in the long term it will be able to better and more accurately predict (seasonal) changes in milk production and the number of dairy farmers that switch between milk flows. The advantage for Arla is that this allows the company to organize logistics more efficiently, for example.
The new tool will also be launched in the Netherlands, where Arla has approximately 100 member dairy farmers.
