The ambitions of Ekosem-Agrar, Russia's largest milk producer, are clear. The company recently opened a production location with 6.000 cows, and now announces that another 15 of these mega projects are in the pipeline.
The new production location is located in Siberia, which is the Asian part of Russia. Ekosem-Agrar claims that the site is good for up to 180 tons of milk per day and employs 170 people. The new complex has 6 departments with 1.000 cows each. Milking is done via 2 milking carousels (with 73 places). There is also a cooling system for 240 tons of milk.
The project is not an isolated one, as the Russian producer is building another 15 comparable production sites, which together will provide space for 50.000 cows. For this, Ekosem-Agrar uses subsidy programs from the Russian government.
Double production
Ekosem-Agrar is the German holding company of the Russian Ekoniva Group and currently produces over 2.000 tons of raw milk daily. The company has 150.000 cows, of which more than 75.000 are dairy cows. The dairy herd is expected to grow to 100.000 animals by the end of this year.
Wanneer de planned new construction projects achieved, milk production will at least double. The agricultural group also has 554.000 hectares of arable land.
