No less than 230 members left FrieslandCampina

16 July 2019 - Wouter Baan - 13 comments

Over the past 12 months, no fewer than 230 FrieslandCampina member dairy farmers have switched to another dairy processor. This is evident from figures from the Dutch Milk Foundation (DMF). A-ware seems to have incorporated the majority of dairy farms as suppliers.

The number of switchers from 1 July 2018 to 1 July 2019 is exceptionally high compared to other years. For example, between July 2017 and July 2018, 47 dairy farmers made use of the scheme, claiming a departure premium of €5 per 100 kilos of milk.

many switchers
A spokesperson for DMF confirms that many dairy farmers left, especially last summer, although he does not leave any further details. Reportedly, however, the vast majority of dairy farmers have moved to A-ware. In the past 10 years, a total of 407 applications were processed, of which 387 were approved.

The so-called severance package arises from the merger between Friesland Foods and Campina in 2008. The European Commission approved the deal at the time, on the condition that 1,2 billion kilos of raw milk became available to third parties. In total, 37% of this volume has now been allocated to other parties. This means that the scheme will remain in place for the time being.

Unrest within FrieslandCampina
The exodus within FrieslandCampina is most likely a result of unrest within the dairy cooperative. For example, last year FrieslandCampina came up with the balanced growth scheme, putting growing dairy farmers at risk of being cut on milk money. This caused a lot of commotion at the time. In addition, the dairy cooperative introduced the PlanetProof Milk Flow, which was also not appreciated by all members.

At the same time, A-ware was active in recruiting new dairy farmers during that period. The cheese maker organized several recruitment days, during which potential suppliers were welcomed by the top of the company. They were also given a tour of the new factory in Heerenveen.

sad, in and in sad……………. for the departures.
apparently they desperately need the severance package and member capital to keep their heads above water.
many will follow.

Dear Dirk. If so ? † Then it will eventually be when that money runs out.
Peter Jansen 16 July 2019
These leavers let themselves be followed by A-ware. Nice words in advance, normal milk price afterwards!

why does everyone have their prejudices against those who left Campina? Look, if you're dissatisfied with what they mean to you, then you leave, right? why stay if you don't support their plans? Being obnoxious to the meeting all the time because you think it's a shitty organization won't make anyone happy. and why would you regret if you stand 1000% behind your decision you will never regret. what are the loyal Campina fans afraid of, they should be happy that they are still with Campina, after all, that's what our Cooperative says, the farmers are in charge, can you be happy that you can be part of it.

dear, indeed dude, proud to be part of rfc.
We wholeheartedly endorse this.
I've heard about leavers who said goodbye with tears in their eyes.
It doesn't make you happy.
Who can have fun or gloat about that?
I also want to say that I have the impression that some commenters here are not members at all rfc.
This is already apparent from the fact that they are apparently not aware that the total departure amount paid out was already determined in advance and has been reserved.
So a jar that would run out is total nonsense.
RFC members who have always attended the department meetings, or who always read the milk e-mails, are aware of this.
RFC is not a jackass company run by even bigger jacks. No, a solid coop with very competent directors and management and that keeps its members well informed
Rightly proud to be part of this!!!

Left FC and FF (ForFarmers). On balance an equal milk price and much better price/quality chunks. Received a million euros from both together and now a wonderful holiday in the Maldives.

A company that wants planet proof as a standard, you don't want to deliver to such left-wing nonsense.
Peter 17 July 2019
How stupid are the current members of Rfc that they still accept all this nonsense about new rules and shifts of milk money?! It won't be long and more members will stop or switch and who will pay them? That's right, the other members next year, the guaranteed price will be less 1 euro/100 kg milk rules will be stricter, so less milk money per member. It is high time that the members regain control through votes Life Council members are no longer representative to represent the members!

As a member you have to stay with RFC and wait until only a few thousand members are left and then sell the toko for a few billion euros. Have a nice walk in.

Isn't campina the club that is a partner of natural monuments?

If you conform to that, then you already know enough!
You can no longer respond.
