Veal farmers in the Netherlands can apply for a subsidy between 1 September and 30 September for investments in ammonia-reducing equipment or new animal-friendly barn floors. This is reported by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl) on Thursday 22 August.
The budget for 2018 and 2019 together amounts to €20 million, divided between €7,5 million for ammonia-reducing devices and €12,5 million for stable floors. The subsidy amounts to a maximum of 40% of the investment. For the ammonia-reducing measures, the maximum amount is €100.000 per veal calf farmer.
Complete application
RVO.nl reports clearly that only complete applications are eligible for the subsidy, whereby sending the quotation and floor plan are requirements. It is also possible to apply for this subsidy for milling in existing slatted floors or the purchase of new slatted floors.
However, it is not possible to apply for the subsidy for second-hand ammonia-reducing devices, the wage costs, depreciation costs and VAT costs. In addition, the ammonia-reducing measures must also be described in the Ammonia and Livestock Farming Regulation, which establishes that the emission of ammonia, odor and/or particulate matter in the barn is limited.
