The American dairy cooperative United Dairymen of Arizona has entered into a partnership with cooperative FrieslandCampina for the supply of lactoferrin. Both parties report this in a joint press release.
The joint venture between United Dairymen of Arizona and FrieslandCampina should eventually produce 10 tons of lactoferrin per year. Lactoferrin is an important product in infant nutrition and earlier FrieslandCampina already announced that it saw challenges in the Chinese market due to a shortage of this ingredient. "This collaboration is a solution to avoid that challenge," the parties write.
Further expansion plans
"This collaboration also fits well with the strategic ambitions in the field of lactoferrin. With our technology and experience, and the high quality of the milk from United Dairymen of Arizona, we are able to supply a product that meets the worldwide quality requirements and regulations," said Kathy Fortmann, president of FrieslandCampina Ingredients.
In the press release, dairy cooperative FrieslandCampina also states that it expects to announce further expansion plans in the short term in the field of lactoferrin.
