The mood in the cheese market is also positive this week and the undertone remains firm. This sentiment means that the DCA foil cheese quotations (from Gouda and Edam) can once again take a step up.
The image on the cheese market is unambiguous: there is quite a lot of demand for cheese, but the supply remains limited. In addition, the milk supply in the European Union is usually at one of the lowest levels at this time of the year, although production seems to be slowly picking up again.
Incidentally, it is still unclear what effect the import duties have from the United States. Although Gouda and Edam have been removed from this list, the duties do apply to other markets in Europe (such as Italy). For now, the DCA foil cheese quotation for Gouda will increase by €0,01 to €2,93 per kilo, while the quotation for Edam will increase by €0,02 to €2,88 per kilo.
Fall ahead?
If we look further ahead, a turnaround in the market is expected. According to the insiders, the market will keep a steady undertone in October, but the prices for foil cheese will fall again afterwards (mostly due to a larger supply). For delivery in November/December, prices are currently being discussed between €2,90 and €2,92 per kilo.
