Farmers' organizations seething about nitrogen plan dairy sector
The Dutch dairy sector is developing its own nitrogen plan, which it wants to submit to the cabinet. The other farmers' advocates are furious about this and speak of 'Code red'. This thwarts the plan to work shoulder to shoulder in the nitrogen dossier.
After last night, the farmers' sector parties say a legendary pact, the dairy sector has today come up with its own nitrogen plan. This plan is causing great annoyance among the rest, according to a joint statement by Farmers Defense Force (FDF) and the Dutch Dairymen Board (DDB).
The consequences do not only affect dairy farming, but also other sectors. In the plan, the dairy sector is opting for low-emission floors. According to FDF, this means that permits must be applied for, which endangers the latent space.
FDF and DDB call on the other representatives to exert 'great pressure' on ZuivelNL, NZO and FrieslandCampina. According to FDF, the dairy sector is neither a representative nor a nitrogen expert.
