Farmer protests continue. Agractie is organizing a campaign in Noordwijk this Saturday, October 26, in which farmers claim airtime in the TV program of Harry Mens. An intensive week of protest in front of the provincial government in Den Bosch, with a massive demonstration yesterday (Friday 25 October) as a conclusion, was ultimately a disappointment for the farmers.
A whole procession of hikers gathered on the boulevard in Noordwijk on Saturday morning for a protest during the shooting of the TV program Business Class. This program is broadcast on RTL on Sunday morning. The farmers claim airtime and have also received it from presenter Harry Mens. The farmers receive coffee and a snack from the staff of the hotel where the recordings take place.
Agractie states that it wants to convey 'an honest and understandable message' about nitrogen, Natura 2000 areas and government policy. Harry Mens said on social media that he found the protest action 'delicious'. "I fully support them, I am the son of a bulb farmer myself. It's all nonsense, in Germany everything is allowed and we have to be the best boy in the class again."
Finally, Agractie founder Bart Kemp and agricultural entrepreneur Anja Henken sat down at the table at Harry Mens, where politician Henk Otten and TV presenter Robert Jensen were guests. This broadcast, where the tractors and farmers were permanently visible in the background, is to be seen here† Kemp and Henken will make their appearance from 1.20 am.
Deadline holds in Den Bosch
In Den Bosch, after an intensive protest of a week, in which the alarm bells were sounded, the farmers returned home late Friday evening, empty-handed. After a vote, the provincial councils of North Brabant chose not to withdraw the policy rules for nitrogen. And even more important for livestock farmers, not to postpone the now infamous permit deadline of April 1, 2020.
Livestock farmers from Brabant who have to adapt their barn due to the so-called Nature Protection Regulation must have applied for a permit before April 1, 2020, after which the barn must be fully adapted by January 1, 2022. Impossible with the completely unclear national nitrogen policy, which has now been added.
Key at the CDA
The key in the province lay with coalition party CDA on Friday. He was critical at first, but eventually decided to vote with the other parties in the coalition, so that the deadline of April 1, 2020 has also been legally established. However, the province has voted in favor of a small relaxation, whereby livestock farms choose an innovative barn system that has not yet received final approval. They must report this before 1 April and then have more time for implementation.
It is expected that only a small group of farmers will be able to make use of this. The farmers continued their protest in front of the provincial government until well into the evening, during which the Brabant flag was burned and fireworks were fired.

#Agraction says he's happy they're getting airtime. 'That's great, we don't even have to demand it,' says Mathijs Lubbertsen. He is also happy with the turnout. "But there are many more on the way." @omroepwest # farmer protest pic.twitter.com/kSHvbR0tmo
