Schumacher: 'To solve the nitrogen crisis together'

31 October 2019 - Wouter Baan - 15 comments

Hein Schumacher, the CEO of FrieslandCampina, still wants to solve the nitrogen crisis together. He said this today on BNR Nieuwsradio.

That the nitrogen plan of the dairy sector last week has clapped, is regretted by Schumacher. Initially, according to the CEO, all parties from the agricultural and dairy sector were on the same page, but in the end the farmers' organizations dropped out under pressure from the Farmers Defense Force.

Polder model
Yet his intention is still to solve the nitrogen crisis together. The CEO's approach is to present a proposal to politicians using the so-called 'polder model'. There is still one month left for that, as agriculture minister Carola Schouten has until December 1st to work out solutions.

"I am very confident that we can come together substantively, because the different points of view are not very large. When we put all our heads together, it should work."

No big shrinkage livestock
Schumacher expects to be able to reduce nitrogen, among other things, by implementing technical measures in the barn and when applying manure. These were also the starting points in the nitrogen plan of the dairy sector. He calls a large reduction of the livestock unwise.

Whether the Farmers Defense Force (and the other farmers' representatives) still wants to work with the dairy sector remains to be seen.

WHAT AN ARROGANT POCKET AT OUR COSTS. HE HAS NOT LEARNED ANYTHING FROM THE PHOSPHATE DEBAKEL WHICH ALSO NOW WAKES FARMERS WAKE UP AND INCREASES A HIGHER COST.

please let him get his own affairs in order with them milk money mess and talk about things he should know about and give those farmers and members a fair milk price instead of meddling with nitrogen he should be ashamed of them
JJ Farmer 31 October 2019
they are so afraid of less milk, because if there is a shortage, the milk will have to be moved between themselves and the price will have to go up.

0% PFAS AND NITROGEN, and 100% MISPOLICY.

POLITICS and scientists allow themselves to be talked into all kinds of things, including by the EU.
Nonsense in 2019.
A concept of this year.
Netherlands to the Kloten.
Yes, you read that right, De Kloten.
Crisis again.
Construction sector and Agricultural Netherlands destroyed by stupid leaders.
SCANDALOUS.
And they can't figure it out with 150 people in The Hague.
Halve their wages. They don't deserve more.
On new deeds?

Hein how is it possible that you can be so arrogant that you know so much better than all the scientists at the RIVM? They say that if all farmers have been culled, there will still be a nitrogen problem.

How do you think that with the implementation of technical measures in the barn and when applying manure, you can solve the nitrogen problem for a while??? Then you have very little sense!

Besides that I think you better do the job you were hired for, because you also have a big problem... And if you thought this was a nice diversion, you're wrong.

See if you can improve communication with the members and try to keep things on track. You already have your hands full with that. We don't like any more rules from the milk factory!!

RFC management must immediately come up with a reorganization plan with regard to reducing the cost price without harming the members.

Conclusion:

Delete the 240 vacancies (240 jobs * € 40000 = 9.6 million) !

Laying off bad staff is a good start:

Koekompas also off the list. to immediately dismiss the creators and implementers of this.

thrift guide ditto government does not accept this! , so it's no use firing money creators and implementers here too.

stop the contribution to NZO immediately!

contribution Qlip must be lower these costs are skyrocketing.

add......

3% salary increase for staff cut

3%of(salary) €40000 = €1200

€1200*24000personnel= €28,8million!!!!!

RFC must indeed come up with a reorganization plan in order to be able to pay a good milk price in the coming years.
Koekompas is commissioned by the government
With the cycle indicator, we are the only sector in the world to demonstrate how well we farmers are already doing in terms of CO2, and N.

Herrold Lammertink wrote a very good column in 'de farm' about how the N-problem should be tackled and how quickly it can yield results.
peter 3 November 2019
Koekompas is not a government order at all. NZO and RFC decided this to make the government happy, so that is something different from what you claim above.
NZO and RFC also wanted this with nitrogen, only fdf put a stop to this!

thrift indicator is NOT accepted by the government rest of the world laughs! and RFC has another toolbox to squeeze members even further!

How would the members of the RFC council prefer that the board draw its conclusion and start with a reorganization plan (and not at the expense of the members) or that half of the members have to go to court to get it right like the Cono farmers are doing now? and the media should always be involved ??

Paying out a cent less is the fastest, at 11 billion liters equal 110 million euros. The above-mentioned savings of a few millions pale in comparison. Gives the least whining because the farmers will continue to deliver. All talk.
peter 3 November 2019
@Jan, I quickly calculated the above mentioned savings of a few million (40 million)

Then 1700 employees can not be ruled out for forced redundancies at RFC!!
You can no longer respond.
