The Belgian dairy cooperative Milcobel has informed its members that the milk price will remain the same in October. Irish processors are also maintaining payout prices, despite pressure from dairy farmers.
Milcobel communicates a milk price of €32,97 per 100 liters to its members. It is a standardized delivery, and 4,2% fat and 3,5% protein. After the September increase, Milcobel sees no room for further price increases, while some Dutch processors do have implemented.
Demonstration at Kerry Group
The majority of Irish milk processors also kept the milk price stable in October. Kerry Group, Dairy Gold and Glanbia pay a milk price that is just under €30 per 100 litres, including VAT. Including bonuses, the payout price may rise slightly, but that does not alter the fact that Irish fanciers are dissatisfied with the current levels.
Recently, for example, a demonstration for a higher milk price was held in front of the Kerry Group headquarters. Lakeland Dairies did increase the milk price slightly in October, by €0,30 to €30,31 per litre.
