It is also quiet on the feed market this week, various forage traders report. Because there is relatively little trading at the moment, prices are again moving sideways.
There was last week Talked about slightly more demand for straw, but not much of that is visible this week. If there is already more demand, it is so minimal that it has no effect on prices. These remain at €100 per tonne free at farm (both for barley and wheat straw). For product that has been cut short, approximately €10 extra is paid here and there.
The market is also stable for silage maize. The price is therefore also €70 per tonne free of charge this week, although this is still considerably higher than last year. In 2018, the price in week 50 was €65 per tonne. If the quality is lower, this price quickly drops towards €60 per tonne or lower.
Beer grains at the same level
The price of spent grain is currently at a high level, although according to traders this is not surprising at this time of year (with many holidays). This price is €2,70 per percent dry matter for the third week. According to forage traders, it is the only product that can be sold well at the moment, due to the tight supply. In addition, this is not expected to change in the last weeks of the year. The market for silage grass is calm, so the price remains at €50 per tonne, free of charge.
The trade in meadow hay is also relatively quiet at the moment. This means that the price is again €170 per tonne free of charge this week. No shocking price changes are expected there either towards the end of the year. The price for perennial ryegrass remains stable this week at €110 per tonne free at farm. According to the insiders, there is little trading.
No trading
There is still very little trade in red fescue, tall fescue and meadow meadow. This means that the prices for those products will also remain stable this week at €150, €130 and €135 per tonne, free of charge, respectively. Traders do not expect much to change in the short term.
