CowManager wins Agribusiness Award 2019

18 December 2019 - Anne Jan Doorn

CowManager has won the 2019 Agribusiness Award. This was announced on Wednesday afternoon, December 18, at the National Economic Agricultural Congress of Boerenbusiness. CowManager has developed a method to detect sick cows, heat and nutritional disorders on a dairy farm at an early stage.

CowManager received the award to loud applause. The company was pleasantly surprised with the price. CowManager has won this award with its innovative ear sensor. The sensor measures the cow's temperature, activity, rumination and eating behavior. The expert jury states that the ingenuity of an ear meter and pedometer is great. "That makes it a special product."

The data from the sensor is processed in our own software, so that the cow can be monitored 24 hours and 7 days a week. "Effectively using complex data involved in this is a great achievement for a young company like CowManager," said the jury.

Unburdening
"One of the advantages of CowManager is that it unburdens the farmer. The company hits the nail on the head with this. A dairy farmer is sooner able to detect abnormalities within the dairy herd, so that he can respond faster and more adequately. That's good." for the well-being of the cow and better for the farmer's business operations," the jury stated.

The fact that CowManager already has a good market share worldwide is also a reason for winning the Agribusiness Award. The system is already being used by thousands of dairy farmers in more than 30 countries. This indicates that dairy farmers dare to rely on this system.

Efficiency
The sensor can be especially useful for above-average large farms (from 60 to 80 cows). These farms are so large that it takes more time to monitor cows with the naked eye. The technology then contributes to a lot of efficiency. The payback period depends on the farm situation, but practice shows that an average dairy farm takes 1 to 2 years.

The expert jury, consisting of Aalt Dijkhuizen, Pierre Berntsen and Jan Omvlee, had a heavy float to select the winner. According to the jury, the pioneering tech company CowManager has more than earned the praise of the Agribusiness Award.
