The price of spent grain shows a price difference depending on the region. In the north the price is €2,85 per percent dry matter (free of charge), while in the south the price is €2,70 per percent dry matter. Looking at the price for 2019 (and part of 2018), it is high, as traders also confirm. The high price inhibits the use of spent grains in rations. Nevertheless, spent grain remains quite scarce.

Prices depend on quality
The trade in silage maize remains the same as in previous weeks. There is mainly a demand for very high quality silage maize, which is difficult to obtain. The price is still stable at €70 per tonne (free farm). historically speaking is high. Here and there there are small price fluctuations of a maximum of €5 per tonne more or less. More is paid for better sijmais.

Straw prices will rise to a maximum of €2020 per tonne, free of charge, at the beginning of 110. The usual price is still €100 per tonne. The price difference, just like with silage maize, has to do with the quality of the product.

Stable market prices
The price of silage remains stable this week at €50 per tonne. The price is expected to remain stable in the coming weeks. However, there is cautious talk about demand picking up when spring is late. Due to the dry summers of recent years, dairy farmers often have limited supplies, meaning they may still have to purchase additional silage. However, it is too early to say anything concrete about that.

The prices of meadow hay and English rye also remain stable at €170 and €110 per tonne, free of charge, respectively. There appears to be little change in the feed market in the coming weeks.
