Schouten is considering publishing phosphate rights

15 January 2020 - Wouter Baan - 2 comments

The publication of allocated phosphate rights has been suspended for the time being, agriculture minister Carola Schouten announced today (January 15).

Schouten first wants to answer the parliamentary questions that CDA member Jaco Geurts asked last week. She also wants to debate the publication with the House of Representatives. This will most likely not be before Wednesday 19 February, when the next debate is scheduled.

The document would initially be published today by RVO. The announcement of this led to a lot of commotion among dairy farmers at the end of last week. Various advocacy groups and action groups such as the Dutch Dairymen Board, LTO and Farmers Defense Force reacted furiously.
