Feed market still in deep hibernation

Beer brush prices still fluctuate between €2,70 in the south and €2,80 to €2,85 (per percent dry matter, free of charge) in the north. The breweries are virtually silent, which causes peace and quiet. Prices can remain at this level because there is little supply. It is striking that prices are high, while according to traders the market is not overflowing with demand.

The supply usually increases as spring approaches. Then breweries increase production again. However, such signals have not yet emerged.

Silage maize also maintains the relatively high prices of €70 per tonne. Here and there there are outliers of up to €75, but this occurs sporadically. This concerns exceptionally good quality, which is almost impossible to obtain. The same applies to straw. Livestock farmers are willing to pay €5 more for exceptionally good quality. However, prices generally remain stable at €100 per tonne.

Late spring movement?
Although silage is currently trading stable at €50 per tonne (delivered to the farm), rumors are still circulating that the market will experience an outlier in the event of a late spring. Due to the dry summer, the yields of the land have not been optimal in many places. This means there is a good chance that livestock farmers will run out of stock before the first cut.

There is virtually no supply or demand for red fescue, tall fescue and field meadow, leaving prices at €150, €130 and €135 per tonne respectively. This also applies to English rai, which currently has a price of €110 per tonne. Meadow hay remains at €170 per tonne and does not appear to be deviating from the price in the coming weeks.
