Milcobel draws attention in LTO milk price comparison

Granarolo recorded an advance milk price of €41,27 in December, unchanged compared to last month. As usual, the Italian milk processor continues to lead the comparison with the highest price. The most increased price is that of the Belgian Milcobel, which rose by €1,50 per 100 kilos. 

Irish milk prices have increased by €1 per 100 kilos. A windfall for Irish dairy farmers, although this is overshadowed by the low production yield. The prices of the large cooperatives in Northwest Europe, FrieslandCampina and DMK, also increased by approximately €1. The other dairy companies in the comparison have not or hardly changed their prices.

Average milk price 2019
Now that the milk prices for December are known, it is time to take stock of 2019. Although the average advance milk prices show an increase from €0,26 to €33,99 compared to last month, the average milk price for 2019 is still €0,33 lower than the same month in 2018.

The average advance milk price of all processors in the comparison decreased by €0,33 in the past year to €33,49 compared to 2018. The most striking thing is that the monthly milk prices in 2019 were relatively stable. And not only did the price remain stable compared to 2018, but the price trend was also a lot calmer compared to the period from 2013 to 2017.
