The General Assembly of the Dutch Dairy Organization (NZO) has appointed Hein Schumacher as chairman. With this he follows in the footsteps of Joost van der Hoogte, who stepped down on January 30, 2020.
Schumacher is CEO at Royal FrieslandCampina and has been a member of the NZO board since 2018. With his appointment as chairman, the NZO board is now dominated by FrieslandCampina prominent figures. Hester Maij and Jeroen Elfers (both RFC) are also on the board. Schumacher is also assisted by vice-chairman Albert de Groot (Vreugdenhil Dairy Foods), treasurer Raymond Noordermeer (De Graafstroom) and secretary Oscar Meuffels (director NZO).
Farewell to Van der Hoogte
The resignation of Joost van der Hoogte is probably a consequence of his forced retirement from Bel Leerdammer in May 2019. Van der Hoogte held his position as chairman at NZO since December 2017, but has been part of the daily management since 2011. It was already known when he was appointed as chairman that Hein Schumacher would succeed him after the completion of the new multi-year strategy.
