The British are now dumping the milk too

7 April 2020 - Wouter Baan - 6 comments

The problems with the collection of the milk have spread to Europe. Following the example of the United States and Canada, dairy farmers in the United Kingdom are now also being asked to wash away the milk.

British dairy farmers have reported on Twitter that the milk has not been collected for several days. The drop in demand from the food service is starting to take its toll.

Staff shortages
In March, this could be compensated with extra sales to the supermarkets, but that demand has now normalized. In addition, various British processors are struggling with staff shortages due to corona. The virus is spreading fast.

The number of infections in the United Kingdom passed the 100.000 mark at the end of March and has since risen further. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has also been affected and has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit since yesterday.

Wales
The milk collection problems are occurring in Wales and the south west of England, among other places. It is not known exactly how many dairy farmers are involved. A spokesman for the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers told British media that the processing industry is doing everything it can to remedy the problems.

In the Netherlands, milk processors have agreed to help each other when the milk collection is endangered, the Dutch Dairy Organization (NZO) reported. last weekend

The milk price in the store is higher. Shame. Boris J. a real milk drinker, now also has other concerns. Get well soon Boris!

Can't believe what we're going to experience again

Boris J. has really stood up, was the edge. Time for a milk and yogurt, or preferably on TV; and thus the milk demand.
Good luck Boris!
