Court does not want to relinquish nitrogen rulings

At the end of April, the District Court of the Northern Netherlands annulled the NB licenses of 16 dairy farmers in Groningen, but the official decisions have not been released. To the chagrin of the Nitrogen Claim Foundation, which has requested this. "The world turned upside down," said chairman John Spithoven.

Not only in Groningen, but also in other provinces, licenses from livestock farmers are being overturned by the judge. The Nitrogen Claim Foundation has therefore started an investigation, but is met with resistance now that the Northern Netherlands court does not want to issue the verdicts. As a result, there is no insight into the number of statements, nor can it be checked whether the reason is the same everywhere.

Motivation
â € ‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹The court asks for a motivation from Stichting Stikstofclaim why the data must be made public. Spithoven criticizes the court's attitude. "Usually judgments are always published, but now a motivation is suddenly required. This is the world upside down in a constitutional state like the Netherlands."

The Nitrogen Claim Foundation will not leave it at that and will take further steps. According to Spithoven, various politicians are considering asking parliamentary questions, he has learned. The Northern Netherlands court could not be reached for comment on Tuesday afternoon.
