The basic milk price for April will decrease by €1,34 and amounts to €34,10 per 100 kilos. This is calculated for an annual supply of 1 million at 4,42% fat and 3,57% protein. Including bonuses and premiums for vlogging and grazing, among other things, the maximum payout price can amount to €38,20. This puts the cheesemaker at the top of the list milk price comparator from Boerenbusiness.
Corona crisis
As with other dairy processors, the reduction at Bel Leerdammer is a result of the corona crisis. The dairy market has been hit hard by the crisis in recent months. Milk powders, butter and cheese have been markedly depreciated.
The raw material value of milk, based on skimmed milk powder and butter, is now well below the €30 limit. If the dairy market does not recover, further cuts are in the offing. There are no signs of recovery as yet, as is also evident from the Global Dairy Trade which took place yesterday (May 5).
