Growth of milk production in the Netherlands is weakening

During the month of April, Dutch dairy farmers produced a total of 1.192 million milk. The average daily production is 39.746. Compared to the level of April last year, production this year is 1,6% higher. The average fat percentage is 4,43, which is 0,04 percentage points above last year's level.

Milk supply for 2020
So far, the monthly milk supply of 2020 has always been above the level of 2019. Over the past few months, the Dutch milk supply has consistently achieved a considerable increase. Last month, the milk supply also showed a significant increase of 3%, which was not entirely desirable given the corona crisis. The milk supply in April has continued to increase compared to last year, but is increasing less rapidly than in March.

Dairy prices have also suffered considerably in recent weeks as a result of the corona crisis. Sales opportunities have decreased and there is therefore a greater supply, which has not benefited prices. An increased milk supply does not improve the situation favorably.
