Guaranteed price down, no new punishment

25 May 2020 - Wouter Baan - 12 comments

FrieslandCampina has adjusted the guaranteed price downwards for the fourth time in a row. The relatively small reduction does offer prospects for a rapid bottom below the milk price.

The guaranteed price for June amounts to €32,50 per 100 kilos, a reduction of 50 cents compared to the month of May. Last month the guaranteed price went down by €2, in that light the negative correction for next month is not too bad. On balance, the guaranteed price has lost â4 since February

At the end of last week, the Scandinavian dairy cooperative Arla also announced the milk price for June to lower. And Fonterra also lowered the forecast for the current season

Market is picking up again
In the meantime, the mood in the dairy market plagued by the corona crisis is considerably more positive. After a significant downward revaluation in recent months, milk powder and cheese prices started to rise again from mid-May. The relaxed corona measures and the seasonal decline in milk production give the market air.

The DCA spot milk quotation in the Netherlands rose last week by €2,50 to €29,50. The limit of €30 is therefore within reach. German milk is already trading above these levels. Dairy prices in the United States, especially for cheese, making strong progress.

indeed, worthless price.
€ 50,- for a black-and-white sk nuka of more than 50 kg
along with the very dry weather.
water every day to get all the corn above the ground.
let's leave the grass alone.
here in the middle of Brabant, dozens of sheep were bitten by a wolf last week.
It's going well, you hold your heart

we shouldn't complain too much about Campina.
every month you get your money. they never fail. and they are not that bad compared to others. I remember from the past, the farmers who cleared their cows and started farming. it happened to most of them. and those that passed or could go often could no longer blow a feather from their lips. no, if you have it that bad at Campina, then you just clean up your cows. and join the (sand) farmers. I wish you a lot of strength.

and yes, I know.
there are quite frustrating arrangements. and often nice decisions are not made.
but that's everywhere these days.
it's just not like it used to be. and it never will be!
so try to keep seeing the positive. it's something everywhere.

You are absolutely right. In the past, many successors of dairy farmers here sold quotas after a few years, tore up the pasture, sought contacts with nearby arable farmers, bought new arable machines and large tractors, is now old iron, and the companies have been absorbed by the nearby contacted arable farmers. sometimes a dip, but ID dairy farmers have money EVERY month, and you can put the consumption to the trade at THAT moment, arable farmers sometimes work with 3 years, namely old harvest, current harvest 2020, but already working towards 2021. Good luck to all, whatever branch you practice.
new stuff 27 May 2020
when I saw what was available at the mechanization companies this spring, things are not going so badly for the livestock farmers.

My wife and I have been enjoying our well-deserved retirement for several years now, BUT that doesn't mean I don't follow it anymore. I still enjoy visiting my children on the farm every week and walking through the fields.
