The trade in phosphate rights has been very quiet in recent weeks. This week, trade has picked up again cautiously and prices are rising.
This week's DCA quotation is listed at €125, which is considerably higher than the last quotation of €118,50. While there were no transactions at all at many commission agents last week, trade has increased again this week, but there is no crowd yet.
There are rumors that the supply is increasing somewhat. Farmers who previously took a wait-and-see attitude are now contacting them more often to sell phosphate rights. The market is certainly not busy yet and the level of trade varies among the commission agents.
Expectation
Some buyers may have to wait a little longer before purchasing new phosphate rights now that additional feed costs may have to be incurred due to the drought. It is therefore difficult to estimate what trade will do in the near future.
