The price of silage maize core chunks plays the leading role again this week. While this chunk price has recorded the highest increase for several months, it fell the most in June. The livestock farmer now pays €100 for 34,00 kilos of pellets. This is a decrease of no less than €0,90 compared to last month. This puts an end to the constructive record quotation over the past few months. Never before has the price been as high as in April and May of this year.

Small plus
In addition to the falling prices, there are also two chunk prices that are showing a small plus. Both the prices of standard pellet A and pink calf pellet increase by €0,05 to €24,45 and €27,50 per 100 kilos of pellet respectively.

Both chunk prices are at a high level compared to the past 5 years. However, the pink calf chunks were already more expensive at the end of 2018. The standard chunk A set a new record last month for the first time since January 2019. According to the forecast from the Boerenbusiness compound feed price indicator the price increase for the standard chunk A will decrease further, resulting in an eventual decrease.

Minimal drop
In addition to the price drop of the silage maize core pellet, the prices of the protein-rich pellet and the beef bull pellet also fell. The protein-rich chunk is €0,15 lower at €26,70 for June and the beef bull chunk is €0,05 lower at €25,40. As a result, the protein-rich chunk does not set a new price record. The beef bull chunk did not come close to the previous price record from the past 5 years.
