Corona crisis has the hardest effect on Bel milk price
More and more milk prices are finding a bottom, but that of Bel Leerdammer is not yet. Since the start of the corona crisis in our country, this dairy producer has reduced the most, although they still score highly in the milk price comparator.

In June, Bel Leerdammer will lower the basic milk price by €0,53 to €31,97 per 100 kilos. This is calculated for an annual supply of 1 million, with 4,42% fat and 3,57% protein. It is the fourth reduction in a row. Since February, when the corona crisis hit the European dairy market, the milk price of Bel Leerdammer has already lost €4,22. Compared to other processors, this is relatively high.
For example, Cono cheese makers, which keep the milk price the same at €33,33 in June, have reduced by €1,92 since February. In their own words, the processor from De Beemster is less sensitive to market fluctuations, because a lot of sales go through branded dairy. Other processors also cut sharply, but less sharply than Bel Leerdammer. For example, FrieslandCampina reduced by €4 between February and June. In the same period, A-ware and DOC Kaas deducted €2,10 and €2,67 respectively from the milk price.

In February, Bel Leerdammer was still at the top of the milk price comparator (without surcharges) from Boerenbusiness, but due to the plunge in recent months, the processor has to give up the lead to Cono. At the same time, Bel Leerdammer is still in second place. That puts the sharp reduction in recent months in a different light. Vreugdenhil's milk price for June has yet to be published. Until now, the powder producer has lowered the price by €2 per 3,75 kilos.
