Agriculture Minister Carola Schouten has completely lost touch with the advocacy of interests now that LTO Nederland and the NAJK have also stopped talks about the feed measure. Earlier, the Dutch Dairy Farmers' Union (NMV) withdrew from the consultation.
In a joint press statement, it can be concluded that LTO and NAJK no longer trust the ministry to come to a solution. "In addition, the time between the introduction on September 1 and the outcome of the PBL calculations (which will be announced in August) is far too short," both interest groups note. Talking further without perspective is therefore pointless.
No support
LTO and NAJK are now targeting the House of Representatives. In particular the parties that are 'agricultural-minded'. They have to convince the minister that it makes no sense to impose measures on dairy farming that have no support at all. This became clear again yesterday (July 22) when thousands of farmers reportedly showed up at a Farmers Defense Force protest at the RIVM building in De Bilt.
