The DCA quotation of phosphate rights this week amounts to €137,50 per right. This means that the price remains the same as the level of the past 2 weeks. According to a number of commission agents, price stability is mainly due to the wait-and-see attitude of both buyers and sellers.
The supply and demand ratio is in balance and there is little enthusiasm on both sides. Buyers wait until prices drop a bit, while sellers do not actually want to lose any rights for the current prices. The current price level is approximately 14% lower than the price in the same period last year.
Regional question
Since the system was introduced, many phosphate rights have gone to the north of the country. The trend on the market is that demand around the country is now more proportionate and that in recent years there has also been an increasing demand for phosphate rights from the south.
