Polish dairy farmers have managed to pick up the growth in milk supply after it subsided somewhat in April. In the month of June, the milk supply is 4,6% higher than last year. The German milk supply is only marginally higher.
The Polish milk supply in June amounted to 1.070 kilos. Milk production is 4,6% higher than in the same period last year and even 5,1% above the 5-year average. When comparing production over the previous month, a decrease of 3,7% is noted. This decrease is related to the peak that milk supply reaches annually in May. Last month production was also higher than last year, but less significantly than this month.
Polish milk production in the first half of 2020 is monthly ahead of last year's level. The largest lead was achieved in February, when production was 6% above last year's level.
Germany
German dairy farmers managed to produce a total of approximately 2.756 kilos of milk in June. The milk supply is only a plus of 0,7% marginally above last year's supply, and also above the 5-year average of 2.736 kilos. Compared to the previous month, milk production has decreased by almost 4%. This is not a surprising development given the annual trend.
The half-yearly German milk production is also marginally above last year's level. For the first 6 months of the year, production is 0,4% higher than last year, despite a 2,5% decline in the livestock population.
