On average, dairy farms have grown somewhat over the first 6 months of the year. The cow balance, on the other hand, has decreased, according to the ABAB Dairy Livestock Monitor.
According to ABAB Accountants, the dairy farms have grown by a few cows and the average production per cow has increased slightly by about 30 kilos to more than 4.700 kilos. This affects the total milk supply, which also shows a slight increase. The Accountantsbureau has based these figures and developments on dairy farmers in their customer base. The figures can be compared with previously collected data and a reference group.
Cow balance falls by 8%
The average cow balance shows a decrease over the first half of the year. The balance drops by 8% to €1.204. This decrease is the result of lower turnover and higher costs. The lower milk price plays the biggest role in this, the turnover of delivered milk has decreased from €1.724 to €1.669. Turnover still falls despite the fact that more milk was supplied.
The cost, on the other hand, has gone up. Concentrate costs per cow are on average €11 higher than last year. Livestock costs also show an increase of €10 and, according to ABAB, this is mainly due to the bedding costs and other livestock costs.
