New Zealand milk production is on the rise again after reaching an annual low in June. For the month of July, 286.000 kilos of milk were produced in New Zealand, an increase of approximately 24,3% compared to the previous month. When the milk supply is compared with the same period last year, an increase of 4,4% is noted.

There was a brief fear that the weather conditions would have a negative impact on the start of the milking season. After a period of drought, enormous rainfall was predicted, with the most seasonal rainfall occurring in July. Considering the fact that the milk supply is higher than last year, this seems to have been better than expected. The milk supply will increase further in the coming months, as is seasonal practice. However, it remains to be seen whether the lead remains at 4%.

Last week another Global Dairy Trade took place in New Zealand. This resulted in negative sentiment, the average price index fell by 1,7%. This marks a decline for the third week in a row. The price of whole milk powder fell 2,2% to $2.9636 per tonne, falling below $3.000 for the first time since February. The butter index fell by 2% and the price of Cheddar fell by as much as 3,6%.
