Milk prices in Europe are on the rise again, although the rate of increase is not fast. In July, the average calculated milk price rose by 21 cents to €32,51 per 100 kilos, according to the LTO milk price comparison.
With the exception of the Scandinavian Arla, almost all processors are increasing milk prices. The French Danone predominated with a plus of €1,90, although this is partly due to a seasonal surcharge. LTO expects milk prices to increase further in August, as various processors (such as FrieslandCampina, DMK and Lactalis) have increased prices for that month. Compared to July 2019, the average milk price was more than €1 lower. This can be seen as an effect of the corona crisis.
FrieslandCampina
The ranking for July is led by the Italian Granarolo, as is traditional. They pay a milk price of €37,87 per 100 kilos. The French Danone and the Finnish Valio occupy places 2 and 3 respectively. FrieslandCampina performs slightly below average at €32, just like Arla. The Irish processors pay just over €30. The Belgian dairy cooperative Milcobel can be found in the lower regions with a milk price of €28,73.
