FrieslandCampina out of the red in Pakistan

30 August 2020 - Wouter Baan

FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan made just over €2020 million in profit in the first half of 1. This means that the company is back out of the red figures that were written last year.

The half-year profit is mainly due to a strong second quarter as income rose to 423 million Pakistani rupees, or approximately €2,1 million. Turnover increased by 4% between April and July to around €51 million.

The green numbers are due to the improved profit margin that rose to 19%, compared to 14% a year earlier. The increase is partly due to higher prices paid by end users.

Lower costs
Last year the company, in which FrieslandCampina has a majority interest of 2016% in 51, had to contend with rising purchasing costs due to the devaluation of the Pakistani currency, which led to a loss. This year, currency fluctuations are less the case. In addition, marketing and fuel costs are lower than in 2019.
