Klaver Kaas and CONO Kaasmakers are expanding their cooperation and have set up a new company called 'Kaas van Noord-Holland'.
The new company, which was founded on September 30, strengthens the long-standing cooperation between the two parties. Kaas van Noord-Holland will offer the specialty cheese market a range of herb cheeses and goat cheese.
Both parties have a proportional interest in the new company. The cow's milk will be supplied by both CONO and Klaver, the goat's milk will only come from Klaver. The cheese will be produced by Klaver in the existing cheese factory in Winkel.
General director of CONO Kaasmakers, Wim Betten, sees the new collaboration as a strengthening of its market position. "We see opportunities to offer a wider range of authentic North Holland specialty cheeses to our current, but also to new customers." The specialty cheeses are available for the domestic and foreign market.
Growth ambition
Betten cannot yet make any concrete statements about the company's growth ambitions. "Of course we want to grow, but it is not clear when that will happen." He does mention the clear objective of never making more cheese than can be sold.
With a view to further market and product development, a new Klaver cheese factory will be built at Agriport along the A7 in the municipality of Hollands Kroon. Construction is expected to be completed in 2020. "Until then, we have to produce with the capacity that is available, we will work step by step and we aim for a continuous market," said Betten.
