A total of approximately 1,907 million kilos of milk was produced in France in August. This is a decrease of no less than 5,3% compared to the previous month. Milk supply decreased by 0,9% compared to August 2019. Compared to the 5-year average, the difference is smaller: a decrease of 0,3%.

In July, milk supplies exceeded last year's levels for the first time in months and there was talk of a recovery after the corona crisis. The fact that the positive trend does not continue is probably due to the continued increase in the number of corona infections.

Italy almost equals 2019
Italian dairy farmers delivered a total of 932,6 thousand kilos of milk in August. Compared to the month of July, this is a decrease of 3,5%. Despite the correction, Italian supply has never been so close to last year's level earlier this year. In the first month of this year, milk production was still above last year's level, but since then milk supply has been lower. In August production is at a comparable level to that of last year. The milk supply is about 1,8% above the 5-year average.
