Polish dairy farmers delivered more milk in August than last year, a striking development in this corona crisis. In Germany, the milk supply is falling back to a lower level than last year.
In total, the Polish milk supply in August amounts to 1,049 million kilos. This means production is approximately 2% above last year's level and no less than 4,3% above the 5-year average. The growth in milk supply, which has been going on since the beginning of this year, continued again this month.
Milk supply has been higher since the beginning of the year, with the exception of April, when milk production was at a comparable level to last year. With this, Poland differs from other European countries, where the corona crisis is clearly affecting the milk supply.
Germany
This cannot be said about the German milk supply, where the corona crisis is clearly weighing on production. This was also apparent from the figures from previous months. In July there was talk of a recovery, but this did not continue. In the month of August, the milk supply will again be lower than last year.
In total, German dairy farmers have milked approximately 2,702 million kilos. Compared to the same period last year, this is a decrease of 0,8%. The milk supply is still 0,1% above the 5-year average.
