Phosphate rights price rises, what do the lease rights do?

The trade in phosphate rights has picked up again since Tuesday 10 November. Nevertheless, the DCA quotation for phosphate rights is taking a step up this week. Why? And how does the trade in lease rights proceed?

The trade in phosphate rights was last week same as a week earlier. As a result, the DCA phosphate rights quotation remained unchanged at €144,50 per kilo. This week, trade is picking up again, traders and intermediaries confirm. That is why the price is increasing this week by €2,50 to €147 per kilo.

Demand may have increased somewhat because dairy farmers have received milk money and because contractor costs have been paid off. However, there is reportedly no ample liquidity among dairy farmers and there are forecasts among traders that some livestock farmers will switch to leasing rights this year.

Lease
The trade in leasing rights is currently picking up slightly, although there is no rush. It is expected that leasing rights will become more popular towards the end of the year, as is the case every year. Lease rights are sold today for approximately €35 per right.
