Another December bonus for suppliers A-ware

2 December 2020 - Wouter Baan

Just like last year, A-ware pays its suppliers an end-of-year bonus, on top of the December milk money. Over the whole of 2020, the milk prices score better on average than last year.

The bonus is €1,50 per 100 kilos. This is higher than last year, when a premium of €1 was paid out in December. The fat and protein prices remain the same compared to November.

The basic milk price, including bonus, is €34,62 per 100 kilos. This is calculated based on 4,42% fat, 3,57% protein and an annual supply of 1 million kilos. For the approximately 300 dairy farmers who participate in the Albert Heijn concept, the payment price with bonus amounts to €40,37 per 100 kilos. In the milk price comparator (maximum) the cheesemaker takes the lead.

40 cents higher than 2019
To visualize the average monthly milk payment, the processor has introduced a weighted actual milk price from 2020. This amounts to €4 in December across the 37,63 different common milk flows, including the bonus. The actual payout price in 2020 is 40 cents higher than last year. In view of the corona crisis, which is seriously affecting the dairy market, a remarkable difference.

Looking at the dairy market, the stable change in fat and protein prices is in line with sentiment. Butter and skimmed milk powder prices are moving steadily. Cheese prices were under pressure during the initial phase of the second corona wave, but appear to have found a bottom. The DCA quotations for Gouda and Edam are just under €2.800 per tonne.
