Cono Kaasmakers adjusted the milk price upwards in November. This brings the payout price almost back to the level it was before the corona crisis.
The milk processor from Beemster increases the basic milk price by €0,58 to €35,02 per 100 kilos. This is for an annual supply of 1 million kilos based on 4,42% fat and 3,57% protein. Including the bonuses and premiums for Caring Dairy, among others, the payout price can amount to €38,77 per 100 kilos. In the milk price comparator from Boerenbusiness Cono belongs to the upper echelons.
Retail sales are going well
Cono Kaasmakers relies heavily on branded cheese in terms of milk value. Due to the corona crisis, sales to food service have shrunk considerably, but this is offset by higher sales in retail. This probably contributes to the increase in milk money. The commodity prices of cheese (Gouda and Edam) have been under pressure in recent weeks, according to the data quotes from DCA. In their own words, Cono's branded cheeses are not affected by the commodity markets.
Again above €35
Arla previously increased the milk price for November. FrieslandCampina, A-ware and DOC Kaas kept the milk money the same. Cono cheesemakers is the first processor whose basic milk price is again above €35 per 100 kilos. In March last year, the milk price fell through that limit when the corona pandemic emerged in Europe.
Call Leerdammer unchanged
Bel Leerdammer keeps the milk price for November the same at €33,88 per 100 kilos, calculated on the above delivery conditions. Including bonuses for vlog and grazing, the payout price can amount to €37,98 per 100 kilos. In the milk price comparator, the processor is in third place, in terms of both basic and maximum.
