FrieslandCampina closes cheese factory in Belgium

10 December 2020 - Wouter Baan - 1 reaction

FrieslandCampina closes a cheese processing location in Genk, Belgium. This is part of the cutbacks that the dairy cooperative is speeding up as a result of the corona crisis.

The location in Genk produces cheeses for the dairy brand Yoko Cheese, but is not used optimally due to understaffing. That is why the activities there will be discontinued at the end of 2021 and partly housed in the Netherlands in the factories in Leerdam and Wolvega. FrieslandCampina believes this will improve its competitive position in the cheese market.

With the closure of the branch in Genk, 211 jobs will be lost. FrieslandCampina previously announced that it would close branches in the Netherlands and Germany. In total, about 1.000 jobs will disappear. The aim is to save €100 million annually.

Do your homework again. it's not a cheese factory, it's a slicer/packer.
