New Zealand produced 3240 million liters of milk in October, an increase of 0,84% on last year and 1,8% higher than the 5-year average. Despite the increase, we can speak of a tame seasonal peak, as the increase is still 1,8% behind the peak of the 2018/2019 production year. With the current supply, this year is more than 2% ahead of the previous milk year.

Australia
After months of recording green figures, Australian milk supply is at a tipping point in October. With a production of 960,1 million liters, 0,26% less was produced than in October 2019. A small decrease, but compared to the 5-year average, the distance is increasing. Milk production in October from the 5-year average is 2,93% higher than the current level. Periodically, the seasonal peak is reached in October, it remains to be seen whether the percentage decrease will continue in November.

On the other hand, the levels in the milk supplied are increasing. The fat percentage was 5,4% higher at 4,03% in October this year compared to the same month last year. The protein percentage also increased, but less significantly than with fat. Compared to last year, the percentage of protein grew by 1% to 3,39%

In September, percentage growth in the largest dairy state, Victoria, already decreased considerably. This trend continues in October, meaning the difference is even reflected in a percentage decrease of 0,3%. The states of New South Wales and South Australia are the only states to record modest percentage increases at 1,1% and 1,9% respectively. Tasmania is also a state that normally supplies a lot of milk, but this state also recorded a negative percentage change of -0,9% compared to last year.
