The Dutch milk supply in November was just above last year's level. The fat contents in the milk are somewhat lower.
The milk supply last month was 1,101 million tons, which represents an increase of 0,43% compared to November 2019. The fat contents in the milk are somewhat lower, namely 4,53% compared to 4,57% last year. Despite the higher volume, fat production is slightly lower at 49.876 tons in November compared to 50.117 in 2019.
Daily production last month was 36.716 tons compared to 36.584 tons in October. This means a slow increase in seasonal production.
More than 1% growth in 2020
In August, milk production briefly fell below last year's level, due to the extreme heat that month. This was followed by a recovery and the upward trend continued in the fourth quarter. Over the first months 12,792 million tons. This is 1,37% more than over the same period last year.
Despite a short-lived production dip during the first wave, the corona crisis has no slowing effect on the milk supply in our country, the figures show. In view of the impending extension (and possible tightening) of the lockdown in our country, the increase is not desirable. At the same time, there are no excessive surpluses on the spot market. The approaching Christmas does put pressure on liquid dairy prices, but not more than was the case in other years.
