The beef market is calm for the month of November, there is a lot of stability in the figures. The slaughter shows a slight decrease while prices generally remain stable. The calf import figures also remain fairly stable, with the exception of one peak.
Weeks 45 to 48 together form the month of November this year. Between 11.500 and 11.750 cattle were slaughtered every week, with week 45 having the highest number of slaughters and week 48 having the lowest number. Compared to last year, the slaughters in weeks 46 to 48 are slightly higher. As far as the 5-year average is concerned, this year's figures are lagging behind considerably.
Prices and calf market
Just as the massacres continue too the prices for cattle for slaughter and the import figures of calves stable in November. As far as the prices of cows for slaughter are concerned, we see a stable to slightly increasing picture. In Leeuwarden, Bunnik and Doetinchem, the prices of slaughter bulls, regardless of category, are all stable. Some categories of slaughter cows increased in the last week, as did sausage prices.
Calf imports are more stable compared to previous weeks. Where previously there were more outliers, we now only see a peak of 46 animals in week 15.852. The other weeks fluctuate between 14.523 (week 45) and 14.167 (week 47). Exports, on the other hand, do see fluctuations. While a total of 45 calves were exported in week 280, in week 48 there were 'only' 10. In week 46, 43 went abroad and in week 47, 250 again.
