It has been feared for some time that feed potatoes have become a scarce product. There is little or no supply on the market. This has everything to do with the higher price for potatoes for consumption and chips, which means that arable farmers no longer sell the potatoes as animal feed. Although supply is clearly declining, the DCA quotation for feed potatoes remains stable at €40 per tonne (delivered to farm).

Beer brush in good demand
The production of beer brush generally moves stably. Breweries that do not only supply to the catering industry are currently not seeing much of the lockdown. However, the relationship between supply and demand is not in equilibrium as demand is still higher than supply. The price moves steadily between €2,85 in the south and €3 in the north. The DCA quotation remains unchanged at €2,90 per percent dry matter, which is exceptionally high from a historical perspective.

The quotation of meadow hay and straw is also stable at €200 and €135 per tonne respectively, in line with previous weeks. It should be noted that the price of the products at the beginning of 2021 is significantly higher than at the beginning of 2020. Both quotations are about €30 higher compared to last year. The 2019 price level, on the other hand, cannot be matched.

Grass seed hay
The situation surrounding grass seed hay types has not changed. In general, it remains true that there is hardly any trading. Prices therefore move stable. Perennial ryegrass deviates slightly from the overall picture and is in demand, traders indicate. The offer, on the other hand, is quite limited. The DCA quotation remains unchanged at €140 per tonne.
