January shows stable to slightly declining milk prices

The first month of the year is characterized by stable to slightly declining milk prices, according to the milk price comparator from Boerenbusiness at. Three dairies left the basic milk price unchanged and four dairies announced a (slight) reduction. Who paid the highest bare milk price in January?

On average, the milk price for the month of January is €33,50 per 100 kilos. A month earlier that was €33,90. That decrease of €0,60 reflects the trend visible on the dairy market in January. For example, the cheese market is moving steadily and cream prices have also made a sideways movement. Both dairy products experienced lower demand compared to December. Liquid dairy and milk powders maintain their upward trend, somewhat compensating for the slightly declining demand in other markets.

At the top of the Milk Price Comparator Boerenbusiness still stands Vreugdenhil Dairy Foods, with a milk price of €36,48 per 100 kilos. It is the ninth unchanged quotation for the dairy company. The processor is followed by Bel Leerdammer, which also reports a stable price for January. In January the milk price is €34,48 per 100 kilos. Cono Kaasmakers is in third place, with a basic milk price of €34,02 per 100 kilos. The Milk Price Comparator shows that this time the stable quotations beat the dairy with a decrease.

Dairy cooperative FrieslandCampina For example, in January, just like Arla and A-ware, had to write a significant minus. The basic milk price fell from €34,42 to €33,48 per 100 kilos. The dairy processor thus falls just below Cono's milk price. Arla dropped the milk price by €1,16 to €31,15 per 100 kilos. The processor is therefore still at the bottom of the price comparator. The milk prices of A-ware and DOC Cheese for the month of January amount to €32,47 and €32,48 per 100 kilos respectively.

Maximum milk prices
The average maximum milk price in the milk price comparison is €37,31 per 100 kilos. A month earlier that was €37,72 per 100 kilos. In January, the maximum milk price remained stable at three dairy processors and decreased at four dairy companies, equal to the basic milk price. Cono Cheesemakers With the sideways movement, it has remained at the top of the comparator, with a maximum achievable price of €39,52. The cheese maker is followed by a-ware, with a maximum milk price of €38,72. The latter recorded a decrease of €0,15 in January.

Third place is shared by Vreugdenhil Dairy Foods and Bel Leerdammer. Both record a maximum milk price of €37,98 per 100 kilos, which remains the same as the last month of 2020. As a result of the decreases in the basic milk prices of FrieslandCampina and Arla, the maximum milk prices for those dairy farmers for the month of January also lower, at €36,98 and €34,82 per 100 kilos respectively. The maximum milk price of DOC Cheese for January is €35,23 per 100 kilos.
